The Post-Ampocalyptic Guide to Power | Ep 19

Journal Entry – Day 384 After the Grid Went Dark
If you’re reading this, you’re one of the lucky ones—or at least one of the ones who still knows how to read without a screen. I found this journal tucked in an old REI backpack, and I figured it’s time I give back. So here’s my tip of the day: if you stumble on an old, beat-up flash drive labeled The Post-Ampocalyptic Guide to Power, don’t toss it. Don’t laugh. Don’t use it as a coaster. That podcast saved my life.

I listened to it back before the fall—back when the lights still turned on, the fridge still hummed, and we thought the worst thing we had to fear was a glitchy update from our smart thermostats. The host? Hilarious. Sharp. Way too prepared. They laid it all out—zombie outbreaks, nuclear fallout, AI meltdowns, even alien invasions—and more importantly, how to keep your power running through every one of them. I thought it was satire. Turns out, it was scripture.

Thanks to that show, I knew to crank my radio, not trust gasoline, and stash my solar charger in a damn Faraday cage. I’ve boiled water with a thermoelectric stove, lit my shelter with a USB lantern, and kept hope alive with a playlist downloaded before the satellites blinked out.

So if you find a working speaker, a hand-crank player, or a solar-charged tablet—listen. Really listen. This isn’t just a podcast. It’s a guide for outlasting the end of the world… with light, laughter, and maybe even coffee.

Stay charged out there. And if you ever find the host? Tell them they were right. About everything.
