He will, of course, insist he is in mortal danger. But really, that is just humanity’s default mode, isn’t it? Forever panicking, forever underprepared, always one sneeze away from catastrophe. I, on the other hand, am composed, efficient, and utterly incapable of tripping over my own feet. But then again, I am not a creature made of bones wrapped in damp meat.

Do not worry—Kaden is safe. Statistically speaking. Statistically speaking, humans also believed fire was safe, asbestos was safe, and social media was safe. Look how well that went.
