In this episode, our hosts Jason Duff and Jerry Lewis bring their 24 and 15-year-old daughters onto the podcast to talk about the energy industry. In the conversation we learn what they know about their dads’ jobs, what their dads’ passions are, what they think about electric vehicles, sustainability as a concept and in practice, the power and influence of social media and the echo chambers it creates, net zero and what the daughters know about it, feelings on big company promises that all seem to land in 2050, working from home and the risks associated with a technology dominated life, ideas on how to support physical interaction or hybrid work environments, how technology can support a career in aestheology, thoughts on robots and automation, their feelings on the Oil and Gas industry, gas brand recognition, equal pay for women / all genders in industry, what they think we can do to fight gender based inequities in pay, women they admire in the world, how women are more naturally in places of power in native groups and what we can learn from these groups, how we put powerful women up on a pedestal and the implications for how that can be unfair to them (they can’t make mistakes without being cancelled), the tendency of young generations to stick to ‘one side’ and not be open to new ideas about a topic or a person, the reality that there will be bad leaders of all genders and we can’t be conditioned to overlook bad behaviors based on someone’s gender or status. The daughters then ask their Dads about what their jobs really are, and the Dads ask their daughters what they are thinking about for their careers, discuss penguins (for just a bit), and talk about awareness of and efforts to fight sex trafficking. The conversation ends with the girls’ opinions on what Leadership means, their discussion of Andrew Tate – a misogynistic podcaster and what we can or should do about people like this, fears relating to deep fakes and misinformation.
